"The Cellar" is a 13 minute suspense/murder mystery short
developed for Halloween 2004. Principal photography began on the
evening of October 15, 2004, and production was completed on October
20, 2004.
This project was Electrode's first independently produced creative
project. It consisted of a 6 person cast, 5 crew members (2 of which
doubled as cast members), with an extremely limited budget, and
a lack of food, drink, and sleep for everyone involved. The film
was directed by Joe Busam, Chris Malott and Jesse Rodgers. We decided
to let Joe be the Cinematographer because of his use of angles and
perspective. Chris was put in charge of the extreme angles for b-roll,
and the vehicle shots due to his experience with vehicle mounted
and handheld camera technique from the NEUROC video series. Jesse
was chosen to direct because the story was written loosely off his
ideas and concepts.
The project was a great learning experience for all of us, and
was "Guerilla Filmmaking" at it's finest. Here's some
behind the scene shots.

The finished product had it's debut at Joe's infamous Halloween
party, and got rave reviews from all of the 30 people there. "The
Cellar" paved the way for future projects, and gave all of
us a great sense of working together as a whole. Joe, Jesse and
Chris work amazing together and are planning many future independent
film projects.
